Kamaan Singh Dhami

Kamaan's work is driven by a passion for issues of social equity and justice, as well as a thirst for an understanding of culture and society. He has been writing and singing folk protest songs that celebrate democratic values and create awareness of issues surrounding war, communilsm and nuclear proliferation. He has also been part of Jarabande,a song and theatre group that addresses social issues through music, song and drama. Kamaan has also been a freelance writer with several contributions to the Deccan Herald.

 

B Jayashree

An early start at her Grandfather Gubbi Veranna's theatre company led B Jayashree to join the National School of Drama in New Delhi, where she graduated in 1973. She has performed in many plays including Mother, Jo kumara Swamy, Barrister, Lakshapati Rajana Kathe, Agnipatha and Chitrapata, under the inspired direction of the eminent theatre personalities like Ebrahim Alkazi, Prasanna, Nagabharana, and others. She became creative director at Spandana in 1976 and has directed thirty plays. She directed Lakshapati Rajana Kathe, which was performed at the International Experimental Theatre Festival in Cairo and Tashkent in 1989 to high acclaim. Since 1991, B Jayashree has received six major awards for her work.

 

Sumathi

Sumathi has been singing Hindustani classical music for the last 19 years and has been a student of pandit Ram Rao Naik, Pandit Yeshwant Buva Joshi, Pandit D S garud, and Smt. Lalith Rao. While being a regular performer, she has also been composing music for documentary films and for many of B Jayashree's theatre productions. She has composed a music album called "Gamini" brought out by a voluntary organization called Hengasara Hakkina Sangha.

 

KP Sasi
KP Sasi has directed a number of issue-based films during the last two decades. "Living in Fear", "We Who Make History", "A Valley Refuses To Die", "In the Name of Medicine", "Ilayum Mullum", "The Wings of Kokkrebellur", "Development at Gunpoint", "Shhh...Silence Please!" and "Ek Alag Mausam" are some of his films. Sasi's films are used by many activist intiatives in India and abroad. His cartoons on a wide range of social issues are also widely used.
